Re: when will fault with ipv6 switched on on some macs be fixed?

Hi @nakedphil,

If the OS you use is Mac OSX (10.6 and earlier), then there is a possible issue with the connection freezing when connected to the Plusnet Hub Zero if IPv6 is enabled. To resolve this then we'd recommend the paths below:

  • Update to a newer version of OSX, or
  • Switch off IPv6 in your Mac's settings.

To switch a Mac's IPv6 settings off, please do the following:

  • Open 'System Preferences'
  • Select 'Network'
  • You may need to unlock the padlock in the lower left hand corner of the screen to allow networking changes (you will be prompted for a local administrator password)
  • Select the network interface you want to use (wireless or wired)
  • Click on the 'Advanced' button
  • Select the 'TCP/IP' tab
  • Click on the 'Configure IPv6' drop down menu and select 'Off'
  • Click 'OK'

Let us know how you get on.

Given that later versions of OSX addresses this issue … is this not simply an OS defect?

I would say it's an OS issue - I can confirm that OS X 10.8 and 10.10 don't have such an issue.

Re: when will fault with ipv6 switched on on some macs be fixed?

That is what I do. I need a definitive list of what will or not work. Not knowing makes for long days fault finding especially if information regarding ipv6 is on or not, machines do not operate for long enough to find out with network connected, I do not always have access to the machine causing the problem. Which version of 10.6?

Fix

Are you able to switch off IPv6 permanently on your Mac?

This may fix the issue you're seeing.
