Re: www.java.com

Might be worth running an IPv6 traceroute and see if there is a routing issue that affects PlusNet IPv6 but not Hurricane Elect.
I get :
# traceroute6 -I www.java.com

Significant?

Quite possibly.
It looks like Java.com is on Akamai's delivery network, and that will use various techniques to spread load/connect users to a "near" node. it could be that not all their nodes are OK.

Re: www.java.com

Try it with the "-I" option - that uses ICMP Ping rather than random UDP ports. I find it's quite common that UDP traceroute fails to find the final device because it just drops packets to services it isn't hosting (most of my systems do that) and so you just get rows of asterisks. It's less common to block pings.

Re: www.java.com

Hmm...how weird is this. I see what the problem is.
I've made no changes my end - but I am unable to access a lot of IPv6 sites again.
Looking at my router log, I am getting a lot of errors all of a sudden:
Quote
Apr 22 11:48:59 rc_service: dhcp6c-state 2129:notify_rc start_radvd
Apr 22 11:48:59 rc_service: dhcp6c-state 2129:notify_rc start_httpd

Re: www.java.com

Well I have fixed the IPv6 problem (I think) - it seems like something to do with the DHCP6 lease expiring.
I had to disable/enable IPv6 on my router again. I will pester Asus again to let them know.
The traceroute still fails:

Although interestingly if I use http://java.com my browser defaults to IPv4, but http://www.java.com uses IPv6.

That would be because java.com does not have an IPv6 address!

@jelv - Can you access www.java.com over IPv6 with either of those two addresses?

Re: www.java.com

Interesting find:
Using the office DNS server (allocated by the VPN) I'm getting different IP addresses!

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    e7075.dscx.akamaiedge.net
Addresses:  2a02:26f0:26:3:8e00::1ba3
          2a02:26f0:26:3:9d00::1ba3

Re: www.java.com

Neither of the one's allocated by the PN servers work, but all of the IPs allocated by the VPN DNS server work.
(I forced it by putting the IPs in the hosts file)

Re: www.java.com

Another interesting thing: the PN DNS servers are giving different IPv4 addresses.

Re: www.java.com

What are the PN default v6 DNS addresses?
I tried Google's v6 DNS servers and they gave the same addresses as OpenDNS v6 DNS servers (which I use).

Re: www.java.com

The PN IPv4 DNS servers also give IPv6 results.

Your accounts will have a single static IPv4 and a /56 Ipv6. Our DNS platform has yet to be upgraded to IPv6 so you will be assigned Hurricane Electric's DNS servers when you connect.
