Additional Usage and Data Transfer Watch
All currently sold Plusnet products have an included amount of usage.
What happens when you reach this amount depends on the product you're on, and the choices you make.
Remember, you'll get an email when you're close to the limit, and when any additional usage is added, so you can keep a track, or make any changes.
You can view your usage anytime by visiting https://portal.plus.net/view_my_broadband_usage/index.php
Products, Usage and Default Behaviour
Broadband Family
If you're on a current product (Value, Premium or Pro) you'll have a usage allowance. If you exceed this allowance additional usage will be added in 2GB blocks and you'll be charged a extra £2 per block, until your billing date arrives and your usage is reset.
To control your spending you would need to use Data Transfer Watch (see below).
Broadband Your Way
If you're on a Broadband Your Way (BBYW) product you have a few more options:
Fixed usage - This allows you to pay for a fixed amount of usage each month (either your usual usage allowance or a pre-set amount in increments of 1GB). If you reach this amount no extra charges will be added but you will be restricted to 128k for the remainder of your billing month.
Flex usage - If you choose flex and use more than your included usage amount extra usage would be added, in 1GB blocks at a price of £1.25 per GB.
You can combine this option with Data Transfer Watch (see below).
Legacy Fixed Usage Products
Some older accounts also have a set usage allowance but allow extra usage to be purchased(BB PAYG).
If you're on one of these products and exceed your usage allowance additional usage will be added in 2GB blocks, at a price of £1.80 per block until your billing date arrives and your usage is reset.
To control your spending you would need to use Data Transfer Watch (see below).
Data Transfer Watch
To help you control the cost of your broadband service you can use Data Transfer Watch to set a maximum broadband price.
To do this, go to https://portal.plus.net/data_transfer_watch/ or login to our website, select Connection Settings and then Data Transfer Watch.
Once there you can enter any amount you like, and then click continue.
You'll get a confirmation screen and that's DTW set for you.
It's worth noting that whilst the confirmation screen will give you a pro-rata amount based on the amount you've entered usage won't be added in partial blocks.
For instance, the example above sets DTW at £10, but in 2GB blocks on Value that's not a full block, so the actual price would be £11.99 and the actual additional usage would be 6GB (as that's the first point you'll have passed the amount set in DTW).
Once you've set DTW you can change it at any time by returning to the page, and entering a new amount.

If you're on an older account, which doesn' t have a fixed usage allowance, or doesn't allow you to purchase extra usage, this doesn't apply to you, and you won't be able to see Data Transfer Watch in your account settings.

To help you control the cost of your broadband service you can use Data Transfer Watch (DTW) to set a maximum broadband price.
To do this, go to the DTW page or login to our website, select Connection Settings and then Data Transfer Watch.
Once there you can enter any amount you like, and then click continue.
For this example, we'll use £10.

And that's it, DTW explained.
