12 month contract renewal available?

I believe Plusnet's standard contract renewal offers are for 24 months.

Are 18 month contract renewals a possibility?

What about 12 month contract renewals - do the Customer Options Team agents have any ability to offer these at all?

This is for FTTC *with telephone* (for a family member) - I am aware of all the telephonic changes afoot, but basically it'd be useful to delay having to deal with this (porting landline number to VoIP etc) for a  year - the current contract expires this summer, but this summer is going to be a bit hectic!

For what it's worth, I have read this useful recent thread - Renewing FTTC contract WITH Telephone - which delves into the topic of contract renewals with retention of the telephone service. Seems like there is a bit of the unknown for what might happen after December 2025 (the PSTN switchoff deadline) for those who are in a Plusnet contract which includes a telephone service. Hence my interest in a 12 month contract renewal that would expire well before this plunge into the unknown!

Just Ring the Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 and negotiate a shorter contract with them, stressing that you want to keep your landline phone. Note that you have to stay on your current broadband package.

Re: 12 month contract renewal available?

Hi Baldrick, thanks for the reply. I was really just trying to work out if 12 month contract renewals were even a possibility, or if it was a 'computer says no' situation hence it would be futile to even try.

I see in this other thread - "Renew before 23/3 or pay extortionate out of contract price?"  - that the poster has apparently been offered a 12 month contract renewal in the online account portal, which if correct seems hopeful.

@Jorvik

I can only repeat my previous advice. The direct COT number that I gave you is normally answered quite quickly. They have at their fingers the full range of options, some of which might not be displayed on a web page. By speaking to them you might also be able to negotiate a better price..

You don’t get if you don’t ask.

Re: 12 month contract renewal available?

i have offers of 12, 18 and 24 month renewals on my page, but I asked for a renewal deal which is in date, but two separate customer service people said it was impossible to implement. The first ones phone was cut off??, but the other went through trying to but 24 or 18 month on the website and it was impossible. It would give me free calls, but put me onto buffering, but there was no way of buying what were Anytime calls. Apparently the service pages for staff have only three option boxes; no calls, international and evening &etc.

I think things are going wrong as there is a mad rush to get everyone on full fibre. I'm told that my good deal was offered by publicity people who were unaware of changes.

(My bolding!)

Thanks @Baldrick1, and yes I quite agree with your point about just asking!

I suppose the point of my question was that it might be a bit too early to ask about any specific renewal offers for this particular account, as the contract isn't up until the summer (so no renewal offers yet by email or showing on the Plusnet account portal) - however I'm reassured from comments from @andyt1970 (in another thread) and from @teddysmum here that a 12 month renewal is likely to be available.

And yes, when the time comes I'll call the COT number to see if they can offer a better renewal price than anything offered by email or the online portal.

Meaning I can then kick the can down the road for one last year (!) before I have to get on with the job of moving this particular household to FTTP and then arranging to port their landline number (that they wish to keep) over to a third-party VoIP solution.

Are they showing Nectar points with these renewals? I see that three thousand or so are offered with new accounts.
