How do I get a new Router?

Hiya,

I've been a PlusNet customer for over a decade now and I returned the original router years ago.  My old Nighthawk has finally bitten the dust and I want to go back to using a plusNet router, but I can't seem to find out how to request one.

Can anyone provide me a link or some guidance on how I can ask PlusNet for a new router without spending 30 mins on the phone with a "broadband" problem?

@jarrda Plusnet only supply a 'new' Hub at the start of a new contract - if you request one. When is your contract due for renewal?

I've just renewed actually when I moved house, but I don't remember being asked about a new router, although to be fair I would have said no at that time.

How long ago is 'just'? As I understand the system now, PN assume on a renewal that you have a working router and do not supply one unless you ask.

Re: How do I get a new Router?

I got one on my old (very long-standing) contract a year or so ago just by asking for one. I had one of the old Technicolor ones that I suspected was misbehaving and was sent a Hub one just for the cost of P&P. I had a BT HomeHub (6 aka Smarthub) anyway as a spare and was mostly using that so it wasn't urgent.

Can't recall how I got it, might have asked here or phoned in? Didn't report it as a fault, just asked nicely.

Since then I've upgraded from ADSL/POTS to SOGEA/VOIP and was sent a new Hub2 anyway, though the Hub1 would work fine. I'm hanging on to the Hub1 as backup. My contract (neither old or new) doesn't require me to return the router anyway.

Re: How do I get a new Router?

@HPsauce I think the upgrade to VDSL triggered your Hub2 - again, AIUI, Hub1's are no longer supplied on VDSL contracts, and I doubt PN will have many in stock anyway - they are rather 'old'.

The OP will have to call in to request one, though.

Re: How do I get a new Router?

@jab1 said "@HPsauce I think the upgrade to VDSL triggered your Hub2" oh, it definitely did, it was a new contract and a new FTTC line in a new location in my home at my instigation (then the old line cancelled as part of my VOIP migration to A&A). Just a comment really not intended to be relevant to the OP.

As we have both said, they will need to ask for one, but hopefully just a P&P charge.

Fix

Nevermind, I couldn't work out an easy way to ask, so I've just bought a second hand one off of ebay for £12
