How does upgrade pricing change at 31 March?

Hi, a bit of a technical question about how upgrade pricing works, and how it's impacted by the £3 price increases each March.

Current contract: 500MB @ £33.99 per month, 18 months or so left on contract

Current upgrade offer: 900MB @ £39.99 per month for a 24 month contract (I presume this will reset my renewal date)

I believe that at 31 March '25 my contract will increase to £36.99

My question is what will happen to the upgrade price at this point in time? Will it remain at £39.99? Or will it increase to £42.99?

The reason I ask is that I don't want to upgrade today, then get a £3 increase in March, if I could just wait til April and then upgrade at the current price, effectively having no increase (and thus save £3 a month)

Pricing is a variable feast. There are deals to be had throughout the year … which seem to have no variation connected with the annual price increase. Working out what is best must be an individual choice.

If you upgrade now, you can be assured that the price will increase in March.

Wait until March, accept the increase on the existing contract and then consider upgrading. At worse it too will be £3 more, the same as the above, so you are no worse off.

Optimistically the price Will remain the same.

At best the unchanged upgrade price might be cheaper than the in contract increased price for your existing service.

What are you upgrading from and to what? Do you really need the upgrade? Internet is no different to virtually everything else - if one is not careful it can be all too easily sucked into buying more than you really need.

@rustyk1

Your new contract, if taken out now, will increase on 31 March next year.

If you wait until until after 31 March you will have to pay whatever the rate is at that time which will probably take into account the price increase (or at least some of it). In the past Plusnet have stated that contracts entered into in March will not be subject to the immediate increase - this is stated on the prices page.

Another thing you need to bear in mind is that the prices tend to vary regularly (up or down) and so it is worth keeping an eye on things.

Ah the voice of reason... Of course you are correct, the right decision is just to wait, as there's no problems with my internet as it is anyway!
