How to Deal with Plusnet’s £3 Price Increase (March 2025)?

Hi everyone,
I recently received an email from Plusnet stating that my Full Fibre 300 plan will increase by £3 per month starting from 31st March 2025. I signed up for a 24-month fixed-term contract in August 2024, and I’m quite surprised that they are increasing the price within the contract period.
I really like Plusnet’s service and don’t necessarily want to leave, but I feel it’s unfair for a price increase to happen while still under a fixed-term agreement. If the price can change mid-contract, what’s the point of signing a 24-month deal?
Has anyone successfully negotiated with Plusnet to keep their price unchanged?
- Were you able to get a discount or compensation for the increase?
- Did you manage to cancel the increase without leaving?
- What’s the best way to contact customer service and get a proper response?
I’ve already contacted them via X (Twitter) and Facebook, but I haven’t received any reply yet. I’ve also sent an email to support@plus.net, but still waiting for a response.
Would love to hear your experiences and any advice on how to handle this!
Thanks in advance for your help! 😊

@ooouch Your initial contract clearly states that mid-term increases would occur, If you left now, because you accepted those terms by agreeing to the contract, you would be liable for ETC's .

Why ? when you start the contract the confirmation states that the price increases every March
edit: @jab1 beat me to it

PlusNet do not handle enquires via email.
Note it is a fixed term contract, not a fixed price contract.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

I renewed November 2024, the confirmation email for the new contract had this statement.
On 31 March each year the monthly plan price will increase by £3 for broadband and out of bundle charges will increase 5%. See our about annual price changes guide for details. Please note the cost of other services you take from us may increase or decrease while you are a Plusnet customer.
My previous contract from 2022 had this statement
For residential customers, the price for broadband, line rental, call plans, call charges and add-ons will be increased on or after 1st June 2021 and then on or after 1st March every year from March 2022. On or after 1st June 2021, prices will increase by the Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in April of that year plus 3.9%. On or after 1st March every year from March 2022, prices will increase by the Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in January of that year plus 3.9%. Other prices, content and terms may also change during your contract. See CPI Plus 3.9% Guide for details.

While the majority of that post is correct, Plusnet are not a 'sister company' of BT, they are a brand within the BT Consumer Group, which is slightly different.
Why they have singed out Plusner is a bit of a mystery though - the whole article apples to almost the whole of the BT Group and, I would guess, all the 'mainstream' ISPs.

@Mav The link to Uswitch is actually in a post from Outcast and apart from moving to a social tariff which Plusnet do not offer there is no useful information given to somehow avoid the annual increase, as others have confirmed.

Hi @ooouch
Thank you for your recent post.
As already alluded to in this chain of posts, we would not be be able to offer any compensation or reduction in the monthly payments. The increase in price is outlined in the terms of the conditions of the contract when you agree to the aforementioned, each and every customer is liable to such increases which are aligned with inflation and with the intent of maintaining and improving upon criticial infrastructure to ensure we can continue to provide the best possible connection to UK households
