I've just received my final bill and instead of being £5.21 which I anticipate it should be (from 23 - 27 April), they are trying to charge me £45.01. As usual I cannot get through on the phone, just music constantly.
As I cannot speak to anyone to query this, I'm thinking I'll cancel my direct debit and wait for Plusnet to write to me asking for payment, whereupon I will probably then be able to speak to someone and explain they aren't getting their £45.01.
The whole reason I'm leaving Plusnet - because you can NEVER speak to anyone!
Has anyone else had issues with their last bill? They've been made aware i'm leaving so I havent incurred a termination fee etc.

Have you actually left yet? Whilst you're still a customer you will be billed at your contracted amount. Once you've left you'll receive your final bill within 20 days (I think it is anyway), which will either be a charge or a refund of what you owe or what they owe you.
Cancelling your direct debit may mean that the amount owed is sent to a Debt Collection Agency with additional charges for their service as per your contract.

No, I am scheduled to leave on Thursday 27 April. I've received my bill from Plusnet in which they are trying to charge me for next month - they already know I'm leaving so why try and bill me for something they know I wont be using and why should they have my money and then refund it to me in a months time? Why can't they just send me a pro rata invoice from 23 April to 27 April, it isnt difficult! As I say, I've worked out that I will owe them £5.21.
They are con's at the end of the day, they won't answer the phone to sort the issue and no way of contacting them at all to get this resolved. You just have to give them your money and wait for them to refund - totally unacceptable!!!

The operative word there is scheduled. For various reasons, that may get delayed, so billing will continue as normal (one month in advance) until you actually leave. At that point a final bill will be generated, the balance calculated taking into account that you have paid a month in advance, and any refund made.

My new provider has already confirmed the switch and I have an engineer coming out on Thursday. Regardless, I am sick of Plusnet and if indeed there is a delay in closing my broadband account on the 27th, then Plusnet can pay me, as I certainly do not want one further day with them and they won't be being paid one more day than my official last day!

Engineers have been known not to show up, especially Openreach ones. Your installation would then get rescheduled...
