Marker on Account. Completed move to BT FTTP today. What happens next with Plusnet account?

Hi

I had Openreach come this morning and installed 500mb FTTP (no phone) on behalf of BT which I ordered 2 weeks ago.  It took 1hour 10 minutes to pull cable through two ducts, install new CSP and ONT.

The engineer said he doesn't disconnect the existing Plusnet phone/FTTC line which is still functioning.

There is a marker on my Plusnet account so I don't have to pay Early Termination Fees provided I have BT activated within 30 days.

My dumb question is how is Plusnet notified that I am now with BT ?

I've requested in the ticket for my Plusnet connection to be terminated at my next billing date, if possible.

Are you transferring your landline to BT too? If so when that transfers it SHOULD terminate your FTTC/Landline

Hi @bill888

Sorry to see you've left after so long with us, although having read your previous posts I appreciate the reasons why. Hopefully though we'll see you back at some point in the future.

From what I can see it doesn't look like BT had placed a migration order from FTTC to provide your FTTP service, because we haven't received a leaving notification through the Openreach systems.

I'd suggest calling us on 0800 013 2632 from tomorrow, so we can manually close your account down. The agent should be able to arrange this for you without any termination fees still.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

@iannewson Landline no longer required.

@Gandalf I saw Plusnet reduced their FTTP prices last Thursday!    I did consider phoning CoT to see what they could do, but decided to just stick with the move to BT.

Aren't we all going to become one big EE family some time in the future? 😉

@Gandalf I took a screen grab of my original BT online application. I think I am to blame for the lack of Openreach notifications to Plusnet.  There was a question:

In hindsight, perhaps I should have answered 'Yes'.

I'll give CoT a call this morning.

You're probably right.  Plusnet have a similar question about keeping your phone number.  It you select to keep it they leave it alone, with whoever currently supplies it (including any broadband on it), and if you select the other one they'll bring it across (including broadband) and cease it.  Sounds like that's the same idea.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Spoke to CoT this morning.  The agent asked for my BT Account number and put me on hold for a minute.

All sorted now.

I got the impression from the cryptic ticket, there is normally an automated process to close the account same day.  However, I requested a delay until next week (in case 'new' FTTP fails.....), the account closure may be has to be executed manually next week.  I could be wrong.

Re: Marker on Account. Completed move to BT FTTP today. What happens next with Plusnet account?

FTTC connection turned off sometime in the very early hours of this morning.

My Plusnet dashboard shows.

Not entirely sure what it is asking me to do about my email address.  I think I may have set up a plusnet email address over a decade ago, but I never used it, so it could be to do with that.

I can still access billing page, so await the final bill hopefully due tomorrow.

@bill888 that is the generic message for all account closures - which should go away once it has fully closed.

Your final bill will be issued within 21 days of final closure.
