Off contract cancellation of service

Hi,

My previous Unlimited Fibre 18 month contract has recently ended, and I decided not to renew as I want to go to another provider.

I think I have to give a certain amount of notice period to inform Plusnet I want to cancel?  Ideally I would like my new provider up & running before I cancel, in case there are issues.  The only downside to that is now I'm on the Plusnet rolling contract, its double the price!

Please advise if I called Plusnet and cancelled now, would they kill the connection straight away? Or does it carry on throughout the month that has been paid for? Bit confused.

Thanks.

Re: Off contract cancellation of service

@OhWell If you wish to move ISP, you place an order with whoever you wish to move to and they handle the move under the Gaining Provider Led procedure. Whatever you do, don't tell PN you wish to move, it can cause all sorts of problems.

Also note, you cannot have two services on one line.

Moving to a totally different infrastructure, doesn't use BT copper line. Will have to speak to Plusnet, as new provider have no requirement to?

Re: Off contract cancellation of service

If you are transferring to a supplier who uses the Openreach network then don't call Plusnet , your new supplier will handle the transfer and inform Plusnet which will count as your notice. If you are moving to Virgin or one of the altnet FTTP suppliers, ( and not transferring the phone number)  then wait until the new connection is up and running and then cancel with Plusnet.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Would have been an idea to mention that in the original post.

Re: Off contract cancellation of service

If I wait until the new service is active then, and cancel at that point. If it's within 15 days or less of the next billing date, I would get charged for the following month also?
