I'm out of contract, do not want to renew since I am getting 1gbps fibre to the house (not through BT/Plusnet who don't offer it), so don't want a new contract.
Charging £54.99 is completely taking the [-Censored-] for a legacy service and has the opposite effect - I won't be taking a new contract and will terminate earlier that than I would have and use 5G in the meantime.

It is what it is.
Landline for phone £26.53
Unlimited Fibre Extra with no discount £27.86
The discount is to encourage you to subscribe, all ISP do it.
Fibre (SOGEA - no landline phone) would only ever be the maximum price charged for the internet so £26.53 less.

Some ISPs offer shorter contracts - e.g. Andrews & Arnold offer 1, 6, or 12 month contracts. They do charge a setup fee for the 1 month contract, but after that they are cheaper than out of contract Plusnet.
