Phone charges but do not own a phone

Hi there

My bills have been creeping up so I looked at them more closely and noticed ‘extra call charges’ had been applied. Last month was over £10.

I have never ever owned a home telephone so have not used the landline.

Why is this happening and how can I get it sorted?

Thanks

Rebekah

@rebekah219 If you check the list of 'called' numbers, what are they?

A lot of ‘123’ at 50p a time and a few longer calls to local landlines.

Very frustrated because it’s tripled my bills and I haven’t used a landline in over 10 years!

@rebekah219  Calling 123 is something phone engineers do to check for spare lines but it can also be caused by an intermittent connection on the line. If the other numbers are all low digits 1234 etc that is almost certainly a line fault.

Just typing almost exactly the same, @RealAleMadrid .

@rebekah219 I would call Plusnet as soon as possible tomorrow morning and dispute the charges.

Re: Phone charges but do not own a phone

Hi Rebekah,

I'm really sorry for what's happened.

I see we've found a fault and reported it to our suppliers so an engineer should be looking into that soon. If you can let me know when it's fixed, depending on the outcome of the fault, I'll arrange for those call charges to be refunded back to you.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
