Problem activating fixed IP

I am new to Plusnet and added the add on for a static IP.

The add on now shows a link to Configure Static IP which, if I follow it, takes me to another page with a link to 'Activate Your static IP'.

My problem is, when I click on this link it just refreshes the same page.

Can anyone help?

@alanG2468  Welcome to the Community forum.

First question, are you a business customer or paid the £5 fee?

Re: Problem activating fixed IP

If it helps, I paid the £5 fee before the connection date.

@alanG2468
We need a Plusnet staffer to confirm whether you are already on a fixed address. Normally all that is necessary is to drop the connection to change from a dynamic to fixed address.

If you do a reverse DNS lookup, I use  https://whatismyipaddress.com/, it will give you a clue. If your address includes your username, it’s fixed, if it says Plusnet it’s dynamic. If it’s fixed and you want it to be anonymous then you need to ask for it to be changed

Re: Problem activating fixed IP

@alanG2468 - seems something went awry with the activation of your static IP. I have cancelled the service and manually assigned a static IP to your account. You'll need to disconnect/reconnect before you are assigned it (the address is in the 31.125.X.X range).

Re: Problem activating fixed IP

Thanks @bobpullen (and @Baldrick1) for your help, I cannot try disconnecting at the moment as my partner is mid call on Teams. I will disconnect/reconnect this evening and let you know the results 🙂

Re: Problem activating fixed IP

Hi @bobpullen, I have just disconnected and reconnected and can confirm I now have an IP address in the range 35.125.X.X

Thank you to all for your help in resolving this.
