Side issue - using Number Witheld (141) and Plusnet

Minor question but probably of interest to Conspiracy Theorists...

I routinely put 141 in front of numbers to companies, to avoid having my phone number creamed off for marketing purposes etc.

Did this with Plusnet, then was interested to find the (great) Support person say to me 'so shall I call you back on this number?' - and repeat my (supposedly witheld) number back to me.

Ditto, when I rang another time regarding a fault, their system cheerfully pushed a text through to my witheld number (different to my supplied numbers).

I'm assuming that Plusnet's system is somehow connected with their all-powerful parent, BT, which is why 141 is overriden?

For the legal minded, this is what BT claim about their Caller ID thing - maybe it should say "... unless calling BT or one of our subsidiaries"  : o)

"If you're not withholding your number permanently, you can use 141 to withhold your number on a call-by-call basis. Just dial 141 followed by the number you want to call. If your number is withheld the message 'withheld' is returned if the person being called uses 1471 to find out the identity of the caller."
