Simple question, but no answers appear when searching here

OK chaps and chappeses, who's got the answer to this one?

My broadband usage breakdown list has "Other" as its final listing, and mine has jumped so much since November 2021 that my 10GB allowance is being used up and the past month it was 67% of my usage.

So - what is "Other" - could it be the new electric and gas Smart Meters which were installed at about that time? Or are these Peer-to-Peer

Answers gratefully received.

Smart meters shouldn’t use much data. Have you got one or more Windows machines ?
There’s been some large updates recently…

Many thanks for your answer, but it can't be a PC. The account I manage is for my mother, who has no PC, just an iPad, the two meters, and a D-Link camera that I monitor remotely occasionally.

Are the smart meters even connected to the broadband?

@pambartlett

AFAIK none of the current offerings from PN are limited to 10GB per month, which leads me to believe you must have a legacy account.

If you were to update your account to a new unlimited one you'd quite possibly find you were paying less too.

Ooooh thanks, I shall investigate on mother's behalf.
