Thinking of switching to BE

Hi,
I'm thinking of switching to BE so that I can get a much faster upload speed (I upload lots of pictures and videos) as BE gives asymmetric download and upload speeds. I currently have the 900Mb product with Plusnet and would switch to the same with BE. (They of course also give IPv6 as standard - something which Plusnet appears to have no intention of doing!!)
However, my 24 month contract began in April last year and so still has 11 months to run. I've read the other posts about early switching cancellation fees, but can't believe there isn't a way that as a customer I can calculate it? Surely there must be a way to do it to within, say £25 ????
Anyone know???

@mikeharry Take your monthly cost and multiply by the number of months left on your contract.
It will actually be slightly less than that (but not a lot ) , so that's going to be within your £25 margin...

I'm not sure it's that simple looking at the Plusnet explanation and other users experiences. Plusnet works it out thus, so it could be substantially less than the method you suggest...

The unknown in that calculation is
- We then reduce the charge to take account of any costs we save because of you leaving early, such as wholesale costs
My guess for FTTP is that is going to be minimal because Plusnet will likely have had to commit to a contract with BTw/Openreach

Did you not get an email from Plusnet when you agreed your present contract. I did, and in that email it sets out what my early termination charges will be. Those ETCs are considerably less than my monthly bill. I took out my present contract Jan/Feb last year.

All it says in that email is "You may have to pay us early termination charges if you end a service during the minimum term in accordance with our terms and conditions.". No help in terms of calculating actual cost.
I guess I'll have to call them, but just hope that an over zealous operator doesn't take the enquiry as being a notice to quit!!!! I only worry about that after a similar experience a few years ago (albeit not with Plusnet).

Contact Customer Options Team (aka COTS)
COTs is the place to go to if you want to find out anything to do with your contract in respect of leaving, renewing or simply enquiring about early termination charges (ETCs). They have their own number and tend to answer quicker than the general customer service number.
Direct dial numbers
- 0800 013 2632 or 0800 079 1133(from within the UK)
