My FTTC contract runs out in a couple of months. FTTP is in progress in my area, fibre is going down and some poles at the other end of village had fibre distribution equipment installed over the summer. They were fiddling around my current telegraph pole recently but nothing has been attached up the top yet.
Unfortunately the Openreach vans have not been as present over recent weeks so I dont think it will make it here in time, but I'm hoping over the next few months it might become available - so can you upgrade mid-FTTC contract or do you to wait until the contract is up again?

You can upgrade mid contract, but you would start a new contract.
Are you aware that you will lose your landline & phone number when upgrading to FTTP ?
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

thanks, good to know.
I have seen the issue of losing landline and number, which would be sad as I've managed to keep the number across my last 3 homes However, we have not had a phone plugged in since we moved nearly 3 years ago so I don't think that would be a big loss?

While technically it's possible to keep a number with a bit of work you would lose e-mail and any other add ons you've got. If you've not used it for 3 years you're not going to miss it.
Keep an eye on the following. When it shows WBC FTTP in the left hand column and Available to the right then you're good to go. https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Plusnet will be more than happy to switch you over FTTP with any charges albeit with a new contract.
