Why is my debit card showing up as Delta

Card is Visa Debit but I was surprised that the old term was used

Is this Plusnet or is it standard for this type of card

Did it when changing the direct debit

Just noticed I did it with not enough time before the billing date - "Oh Well" my mistake

So this will be a first test of the new No Surcharges Law

I'm not sure whether it's a standard, but I have noticed our system does display debit cards as delta.

Though this shouldn't affect taking payment from the card.

Delta card, that's a blast from the past.

Well over a decade out of date.

"The Visa Debit card was previously known as "Visa Delta" solely in the UK. The Delta name began to be phased out in favour of the Visa Debit branding from September 1998."

A sure sign of the age of the billing system.

The "no surcharges law" won't affect this.
That only applies where surcharges were taken for only credit cards. Plusnet take the charge for all card payments.

Some businesses have gone with the spirit and got rid of card charges. Others have just started adding the charge on for all transactions and renaming it to a service charge.

I am not an expert on the new law but from here  https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/cards/2017/07/credit-debit-card-fees-to-be-banned  it states

Companies will be banned from charging ANY fees for credit or debit card payments from early next year.

Also from http://www.osborneclarke.com/insights/ban-on-surcharging-for-card-payments/

If you currently apply surcharges to consumers for paying by particular payment methods (most commonly for payments by credit or debit card), this will be against the law from 13 January 2018.

I have it on the best of authority that the plusnet accountant has a bone through his nose and does all his "accounting" using his fingers.

When he runs out of those he uses the fingers of previous employees which are strung around his neck.

Final update
Just paid my bill via cash card (direct debit hasn't gone through) and I can confirm that there was no surcharge

Rather than opening a new thread

According to Plusnet the direct debit was submitted on the 17th Jan

According to my bank the Direct Debit was active on Monday 22nd but the Plusnet system still shows it as pending - WHY?

It looks like your DD activated on our billing system at 10:54 this morning.

so why does it take so long from the bank activating it to Plusnet doing the same

It's possible the delay is due to our billing system processing the DD.
