I have tried to change my billing date but it comes up with an error message ‘ There has been an issue; please consult your system

Do you still receive the same error today? If so, is it possible to try a different web browser?
It's worth bearing in mind that, if there's a pending payment, then a bill date change won't take effect until the following month. However, when or if a payment fails, we won't apply restrictions for 14 days, which may help.
If you need longer than this, I'd suggest giving us a call on 0800 432 0200, and we'll see if we can offer an extended grace period, as these are usually possible, but only once every 6 months though.
