Change Broadband Activation Date

Hi,

I just re-joined PlusNet and ordered unlimited fibre broadband

To avoid termination charges from my current provider (TalkTalk) I need to ensure my activation date occurs after my current contract expires. Is that possible ?

My current contract expires on 15 September 2022 so I need my activation date to be on or soon after 16 September 2022

I've already received a "goodbye" notification from TalkTalk with a date on 07 September so I guess this is the activation date currently assigned. Can you change as described above please ?

Many Thanks

Steve Davies (A/C holder)

Re: Change Broadband Activation Date

@sy3hx4b6  Welcome to the forum.

Be a little bit careful here. I don't know how Talk Talk works but if it's the same as Plusnet you pay for your line rental and broadband a month in advance. If so, you will have fully paid up your TT contract on the 16th August. Therefore, if it works the same way, any termination charges will be in the form of a reduction in the amount that TT pays you back for the days after you leave, not a bill.

If you leave after the end of the contract you may be hit with another TT bill for a full 'out of contract' month and have to wait for the refund until your TT contract is finally closed in their back office system. It's a toss up which ends up the cheaper.

CAUTION. I'm not saying that this is what TT does, it's the way that Plusnet handles customer transfers out of their service, so worth checking.

Re: Change Broadband Activation Date

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply

TalkTalk have already told me there will be contract breakage charges if the line transitions on 07 September - this date must have been assigned by PlusNet / OpenReach. I do not mind TalkTalk taking awhile to refund any over payment - I just want to avoid unnecessary termination charges, so...

Can you please adjust the activation date to be 16 September or soon thereafter to avoid contract break charges

Also I just got an eMail from yourselves indicating the landline phone number will change. I do not want this to happen. The phone number should remain the same since it has been with the property for over 30-years. Can you please request the number (Moderator Note: Phone number moved to an area only accessible by Plusnet) remain the same ?

Many thanks

@sy3hx4b6

To avoid any confusion we Moderators are fellow customers as per my signature. We are not Plusnet staff.

Hopefully a staffer will come along soon to pick up your request.

Re: Change Broadband Activation Date

Hi,

Can you please close out this thread

I just called your cancellation team and cancelled my order for unlimited fibre broadband - my current provider contacted me with an unmissable offer to stay with them

I assume any transfer requests (to OpenReach) on my landline will be cancelled - please confirm ?

Apologies for any effort you've already put into this

If you need me to do anything to close this thread just let me know

Best Regards

The A/C Holder

@sy3hx4b6

No further action is required on this forum.
Your current ISP should handle the infrastructure move cancellation with Openreach.
