FTTP upgrade timescales

I put in my order for upgrading to FTTP, with a requested install date of the 14th.

So far, OR have texted me an initial confirmation that they need to come look, and that’s fine.

Presumably until they get back to PN, the requested install is still tentative?

If the install date gets pushed back, what happens regarding my current FTTC? The contract for that expires on the 15th, will I start paying the out of contract price? Get cut off? Have the FTTP install fail for some reason?

Re: FTTP upgrade timescales

@jpds

You would continue on FTTC until FTTP is installed. Not certain at what price.

Sounds like OpenReach think there might be a problem with the install which requires a pre survey just to check. As you state, until OR report back there is no confirmed date.

Re: FTTP upgrade timescales

Not sure about problem, the text just says about “external work” and the outside box, likely because it’s all ducts here, no poles.

Tbh, I thought they did the external box on install day, but maybe not.

@jpds

The ducts could be blocked. If an OR works squad is required to do some work they might do the external box as part of the work if they are tasked with running cable as well as fixing whatever needs fixing. You just don't know.

Have you tried logging into your PN Portal (members page) and seeing if there are any Open Questions on your account.

A staff member may pick up this thread in due course and add a comment.

I read about checking for those on another question, but no idea where to find such a thing, so assume there aren’t any as there is nothing obvious.

Fix

@jpds

You could look at closed questions as well to see if there's anything there.

It appears PN are waiting on OR to do their survey before confirming a date. If you need to take time off to be there then it would be worthwhile to give Support a phone to confirm the timescale.
