Why doesn't it make it right, is what I asked. The technology/infrastructure used by ADSL/FTTC is end-of-life, and needs updating - hence why everyone, eventually, will be on a version of FTTP.

It's not right as it is being forced on people. Some need their copper line for phones, alarms etc. As it stands prices are increasing for less. To many the increase in speed is a good thing, others don't need it.

If they don't replace the old, worn out and non-repairable old technology, it will become increasingly unreliable. Phone calls can still be made, but it will not be via the old, increasingly antiquated copper circuits, and alarm companies are updating their systems to accommodate the changes, or already have done so.
