Re: No Activation

So, @Owensoc , you are in NI, and I've no dea what the 'only build to cash' comment means, but you have an ONT, but it  - so far - has no active service, which should be remediable by remote activation - I think, maybe @MisterW could enlighten us?

Re: No Activation

Yeah I have no idea, and was wondering if being in NI messes everything up. But still, when buying it it said it would be fine and remotely activated.

Re: No Activation

No, where you are shouldn't change the procedure. Do you know if the previous tenant had a service? If there is an ONT there, I would assume they did.

Re: No Activation

So, they most likely had FTTP via BT. Totally befuddles me why OR say they need to 'survey'.

Im afraid I have no idea what the 'only build to cash' means ( and neither does Mr google? )

@Owensoc as @jab1 says , it says there's an ONT present, so that should be all that's needed for a remote activation.

I'll try tagging @Galadriel  since she replied earlier,

Please can you explain why planning is required when there is clearly ( BT wholesale checker confirms ) an ONT already installed ?

It looks like the one in the photo, same lights on it as well

I know nothing about these lights but doesn’t this suggest that there’s already an active service to the property? Is it possible that the previous tenants connection is still active and Openreach are looking at connecting a second line?

@Baldrick1 AFAIK those lights will be on if the ONT is working and has a fibre connection, irrespective of whether there's an active service or not. All the service activation does is enable the connection at the OLT (exchange) and configure the circuit to route the connection to the correct ISP

@Owensoc my guess ( and its just a guess ) as to what's happened is:-

The original order for remote activation failed the test of the ONT, maybe it wasn't powered (or  its faulty), so the order reverted to a standard install, either that or OR's database doesnt agree with BTw's !! Checks made by the PN staff have likely just checked the current order status!

In order to get back to remote activation, the current order probably needs to be cancelled and replaced with a remote activation one again

Re: No Activation

'only build to cash'  is just Openreach speak from the old Lead to Cash terminology meaning they would only build the circuit/lay fibre if they have an order - but why when they already have a working ONT is anyones guess.

@Owensoc   is the ONT powered up and are the lights on as per the earlier pic?

And do you know when the previous occupents moved out?

I dont believe that the first line of the narrative is ever changed as a result of any previous install

Re: No Activation

The ONT wasn’t powered on the day of activation, that could be it. I only turned it on when I hooked the router up after not hearing the activation status for a few days.
