On holiday when service is enabled

Hi, I've just switched from BT to Plusnet but the switch over will happen when I'm away from home. My question is : Do I wait until I'm back to plug in the Plusnet Hub or do I plug it in and connect it before I go? Does it even matter? Thanks for any advice in advance.

@Tomsk1973

Personally I would disconnect the BT router before leaving and then add the Hub2 when you get back.

What you must do is leave the ONT powered up.

Re: On holiday when service is enabled

@bmc 's 'ONT' comment applies if you are having Full Fibre - if it is FTTC, just either leave it as it is, and do the switch when you return, or, as he says, unplug the BT hub, and set the PN one up on your return.

@jab1

Thanks -  I was sure I'd seen "fibre" in the post.

@Tomsk1973

I assume you know you'll lose your phone line.

Re: On holiday when service is enabled

Hiya @Tomsk1973

Leave the ONT power on and just plug our router in before you leave Smiley When you come back you should be good to go.

Re: On holiday when service is enabled

I can't confirm what service they are on over here. I can however tell them to the above so if they do have FTTP they will know they have an ONT Smiley

Re: On holiday when service is enabled

Fair enough - but I thought @bmc had already said that - when he too didn't know whether it was an FTTC or FTTP provision.

Hi all, yes I have an ont box. Thanks for all the advice. I'll just unplug the bt box before I go away then.
Thanks all

Re: On holiday when service is enabled

Ooh also there's no phone line so I don't need to worry about that. Great community response thanks!
