Openreach

Good morning
I'm moving house on Friday when I called to make the arrangements for my Internet to be fitted in my new property I was told that no one would be needed to come out there as there is already a box for the fibre broadband there so openreach wouldn't need to attend could this be confirmed please
Many thanks
Scott

Re: Openreach

@Scotty1608  is this a Full fibre order ?

If so there should be an ONT at the premises. If possible I'd check and make sure its powered on.

Re: Openreach

@Scotty1608

Is there a box on the outside wall and an Optical Network Adapter (ONT) on an inside wall? The ONT looks something like this https://support.aa.net.uk/Openreach_FTTP_ONT

You could also have a look at the ADSL Checker

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Run the address version and have a look at the narrative below the result window. This should confirm if an ONT is present and active. Mine says

"Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Proven Clear.

ONT exists with active service. A spare port may be available or a single port ONT may be swappable to a multiport ONT. A new ONT may be ordered."

Re: Openreach

I csnt access the address until I receive the keys on Friday but I ran the address on the broadband checker and this is the result I got

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed with no anticipated issues.

ONT exists with no active service. A spare port is available. A new ONT may be ordered.

@Scotty1608

Just make sure it's powered up when you go to the house. Otherwise I believe it's just a software change to set up your connection.

Re: Openreach

@Scotty1608  was the house previously occupied ?

I ask because sometimes the previous occupants may take the ONT with them , thinking that since they had it installed , its theirs. Recent ONTs have a sticker that says 'leave behind when moving'. The ONT is akin to the master socket in that it belongs to the house.

Re: Openreach

It's a rental property so not sure I have a ONT at my current address but that will be left behind as it does have the sticker on it

Re: Openreach

Yes, there's no point in taking an ONT with you! An ONT is registered to an address/connection, so if its moved it wont work and an engineer is required to replace it.
