Passing message to Openreach regarding upcoming install

I've got an order in progress for an FTTP install which is due to take place on the 24th April.

How can I get a question passed through to Openreach regarding the installation?

I'd rather not phone Plusnet customer service as I want to send/email a picture, which is tricky on a voice call.

I no longer use Twitter.

I know Plusnet have a ticketing system. Is there no way this can be accessed by end users?

You, as the end-user cannot contact OR directly. Maybe if you posted the question and picture on here, other forum users could advise?

Re: Passing message to Openreach regarding upcoming install

I know I can't contact OR directly myself. I don't want to do that.

I would like a mechanism to get an electronic message to Plusnet Customer Services that they can pass on to OR.

Anyway...

The current copper line feeding my property is installed via a duct, the end of which is obscured as a result of making a porch and tiling the floor a few years back - see attached picture.

Will Openreach expect to be able to access the end of the duct?

I'm hoping they'll be able to use the existing copper to pull the fibre through the duct, so I don't have to start ripping up floor tiles.

Cheers,
Rob

My thought are that they would most likely need to access the end of the duct, even if they used the existing copper as a draw-rope - they do need some work-space. However, because I know you won't like that reply 😉 - I'll tag someone who may know a bit more.

@robleady

If you look at the following does it say KCI2 to the right of WBC FTTP in the results window? In the narrative below what does it say about the FTTP install?

I suspect this is one of those thatt you'll only find out on the day, If they try a cut and pull using the existing copper cable you could be without a service for a while if it breaks during the pull. However, they might just be able to "rod" the duct for a draw rope.

No, no mention of KCI2.

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG premises served by 2.5 Inch plastic duct 56.

The chamber in the pavement is probably less than 20m away, so it should be fairly easy - I'd just rather know in advance if I need to find some new tiles!

I'm afraid that's about the size of it...

Re: Passing message to Openreach regarding upcoming install

I hope it goes OK for you, but as a sad example of how 'it is surely so simple' can just not happen see my 'A second follow my order' thread.

I too started from the point of my OR chamber having a known working CBT 10m from my front door, and the '1 stage'  'duct 56' statement.

Ordered early Feb, it is now April and no FTTP......

Get a screengrab of the wholesale checker status page ASAP - and if you decide to post it remember to obscure your personal details.

As for getting OR a picture, you'd could call PN and get them to set up a query ticket, you can then respond with text and pictures.  However if you do make contact OR might decide to 'check' and then you are in their '3 week waits for every step' routine.
