Plusnet contact number

I recently got a new deal from Plusnet taking my monthly payment from £47.76 down to £22.99. Upon realising that they are still taking the higher payment from my bank account, I tried to a phone them on the number as advertised on the website only to be told that this number is not recognised. I have tried to find an alternative number by which to contact them but so far have had no success. Can anybody advise? Many thanks!

Re: Plusnet contact number

Thank you for your reply. The number you just gave me is the same one that I call and it says number not recognized. Any ideas?

Re: Plusnet contact number

Are you able to try from another phone? That is definitely the correct number, and as I said, works for me, both from my landline and mobile phones.

Does your phone provider allow calls to 0800 numbers? I know that some don’t and so that may be the issue.

Re: Plusnet contact number

So the OP isn't on a phone/broadband package with PN? I thought all mobile providers allowed 0800 calls?

Re: Plusnet contact number

I thought ALL providers had to give free access to 0800 numbers ?

I know some dont give free access to international freephone 00800 numbers

edit: and I was correct https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/advice/uk-calling

Freephone

In addition, all Freephone numbers (which begin 0800 or 0808) are now free for consumers to call from all phones, whether mobile or landline.

Yep - my understanding too, @MisterW , under OFCOM rules.

Not sure. I assumed, and perhaps wrongly, that they weren’t calling from a Plusnet landline.

Historically, I know some people who have had trouble calling an 0800 number, and it turned out to be an issue at the mobile provider’s side. I don’t know if that was intentional or if something was broken. Thought it was worth mentioning as a possibility though.

Re: Plusnet contact number

Fair enough, @Gandalf , but as they haven't been back, I'm assuming they have solved it. I wish people would finish a conversation.
