Re: Router set up

Thanks MisterW.

The message that I got from Openreach says that on my selected activation date, Openreach wants me to

1)Power up the ONT

2)Switch on the router (once received)

3)Connect to ONT using ethernet cable supplied by Plusnet

Once it is done, I am supposed to check if everything is working.

In this regard, my confusion, how do I power up the ONT ? . As you rightly said, I may have to hunt down the ONT first and then check how to power it up ...

Regards

@ank5373

If there's an ONT in place then there should be power cord with it.

I think it's got to the stage where you need a PN member of staff to pick up on this thread and advise.

You could check how the Virgin cable enters your appartment to see if that provides any clue to to where an ONT may be.

@ank5373

Staff monitor the Forum and one should pick up this up in time.

Re: Router set up

Hi James

Thanks for asking. I am waiting for the PlusNet router for activating my connection on May 10th. Previously I was with Virgin Media. However I received a message from Openreach asking me to turn on the ONT. I have no clue what this is. I have not seen any other internet router or modem or junction box inside my flat. The newly built flat is on the first floor.

Could you please advise what should I do with regards to the ONT? . Should I ask around whether anyone in the community knows about it?. There are other flats which use Sky, BT etc.

Regards

Anish

Re: Router set up

Hmm so you don't have an ONT box that looks like this @ https://static.plus.net/content/dam/plusnet/images/help/broadband/routers/hub-two-full-fibre/hub-two... ?

Re: Router set up

All I can see in the flat is a wall socket where I used to plug in the Virgin Media broadband cable. Will ONT be common for all the flats in the building ?

Re: Router set up

@ank5373   it is about time you had a chat with your neighbours. It may well be that all the ONT and comms devices are in a cetral room/cabinet, then patched through to the sockets you have found.

Why not knock on some doors or speak if you see someone passing?
