engineer set up confusion

hello, I've moved to a new place which had plusnet fibre installed, so bought a fibre package. it's just broadband so no phone. I'm wondering whether I still need an engineer? I manage a mental health service from home and my phone/4g router has poor signal in this area and couldn't manage a video call eg, so the wait of three weeks is worrying me a bit. if it's definitely needed (there was some confusing information provided on chat by a few different people!) then how do I find out about cancellations eg to bring it forward? thanks so much.

Re: engineer set up confusion

@benslette

Are you talking FTTC or FTTP (known as Full Fibre).

If a fibre ONT is already installed then no engineer shouln be required.

With PN FTTP there is no voice package so you would need a VOIP account with someone for a phone service.

Re: engineer set up confusion

Thanks Brian, that makes things clearer.

Can anyone else advise as to whether it's at all possible to bring appointments forward as I am stuck between having to leave the house for data and needing to work from home, which I can't do elsewhere due to sensitive patient data. If I call, can a cancellation/ postponed spot be allocated?

Thank you

Re: engineer set up confusion

Hi @benslette sorry to disappoint but installation dates are the soonest available for us to book, if we were to look at changing the date we'd only see dates further ahead into the future.
