2704N router stopped working

My router stopped working last night. Power and WPS lights are solid green. All other lights are out.
Router address does not respond. (timeout)
Phone line works.
I tried holding in the reset button but this had no effect.
I could successfully connect my old EE brightbox router and it connected but I suspect I was soon thrown off, as no longer being an EE broadband customer. This suggests to me the line is ok.
Browsing the forum, it seems my router is basic, old and unreliable. It appears the advice is to upgrade to a newer PlusNet router or buy a 2nd hand BT Smarthub.
Service seemed to degrade after I took out a new 18 month contract arount May.
I was away from July to October, but it worked ok on return for last 2 days. Now nothing.
Any further advice appreciated.

Tantalising (in the email) I can see "There's something going on in" but no more.
I may be looking in the wrong place.

I'm sorry to see your router's stopped working.
Based on what you've said and line tests aren't showing an issue, I've arranged to send you a newer router now which you should receive this week.
Let us know how it goes once you've got it.
