3rd party router wifi is really pants, will have to use PN supplied

A bit gutted really. The Technicolor router I liberated from the WEEE bin at work seems to not like my voipfone app. The idea was to plug the DECT phone into the back of the router to carry on using the home phone. I am currently using the app to receive home calls which isn't a problem, but the line is crackling and dropping out. I have proved it is a router issue as if I use my mobile sim or connect to another broadband network, the calls are crystal clear. 

I'm sure the PN router is fine, it is the ability not to be able to split the bands that are the pain as I like to choose what is on what network. I'll give the PN router a go, but may well be looking for another 3rd party that I can plug a dect into.

I have found that my laptop doesn't like certain WiFi's... I'm sure if I spent ages playing with the many settings, I would be able to make it work. Instead I just got a cheap wifi dongle, which works.

This is the "joy" of electronic standards: there's so many OPTIONs within the standards, that sometimes they just don't quite work.

I get the feeling it's worse when one piece of kit is older, the other newer.
