Access point not working

I had a plus net router for Wi-Fi in the house and also used an ethernet cable from the router to a tp link booster located in garden office used as an access point for wireless devices from there. I have now switched the router to a bt hub6. The wireless in the house works fine, but the Ethernet is not picking up an internet connection at the garden office end. Given that is the only change in the system is there anything I need to do on the bt hub account to make the Ethernet work?

The Access Point is probably stuck on the old IP address. Factory reset the AP and set it up again. No changes should be needed on the BT hub.

@jrd01 Possibly a silly question, but what is the username and password in the router?

@jrd01 which port have you plugged the ethernet cable into on the router?
Do you get the same result with a shorter ethernet cable and your laptop?
Have you tried another port?

Are you saying that you get Ethernet access if you connect to the BT Hub over wireless but the Ethernet ports don’t work? If so it sounds like either a duff Ethernet cable or a duff hun.

Well, if it works on a short cable, but not the longer one the PN Hub does work on...

@jrd01 Confliction in your posts. Is the device an access point or booster ? If it’s a booster you’ve probably configured it with the Plusnet Router SSID.
P.S. If you can give the make and model of what ever it is then we can all read the manual and hopefully offer practical advice….

@jrd01 does it still work with the PN router?
How long is the long ethernet cable?
It could be if it does work with e PN rotuer it may be close to the limit of what can be acheived and that the PN router transmits at slower speeds, but has slightly better performance on its ethernet ports.
On the other hand a mouse could have had a chew on the cable when you were not looking.
Key question - does it still work with the PN router, and does a laptop work with the long cable and PN router?
Oh, what PN router is it?

@jrd01
Have you tried the WAP on the end of the short cable?
If you do a search for Network Cable Tester you can get one for under £9. They are an essential tool for Ethernet cables.
You could have dislodged a core in the cable when disconnecting it.
Also note that CCA cored cables are cheaper but less reliable.
