Re: BT Home Hub 6 (Smart Hub) on PlusNet

Solid orange means the Hub is working but not connected to the internet.

Are you using the correct  log in details and password ? The one you use to log into your member centre.

yourusername@plusdsl.net  then your password

Do you have any odd characters in your plusnet password like $%£@*(){+_> etc.  if so

change the password  for one with out them, until an updated firmware has occurred ,

Try a wireless connection to set up.

Re: BT Home Hub 6 (Smart Hub) on PlusNet

I’d already changed my password to a simple one with just lower case letters

Also tried setting up using WiFi instead and get the exact same thing

Re: BT Home Hub 6 (Smart Hub) on PlusNet

Only suggestion left would be to do  a  Hard reset, keeping pin in back for a considerable long time at least 30/40 seconds   and also a Hard reset from the hub advanced settings/ system settings immediately after . Remembering only to plug the dsl cable in after entering yourusername@plusdsl.net and password. and then press the connect Tab at top right of page.

Re: BT Home Hub 6 (Smart Hub) on PlusNet

Thanks, I’d already tried both of those things already as well...

Looking like it might be a dodgy hub?

@willsarson

What sequence of lights do you see after switching on?

Did you manage to fix this issue?
I'm getting the exact same problem.

Sadly not. I gave up in the end - just gone back to my unreliable plusnet router - not ideal but c’est la vie

Worked for me.

I followed the instructions given by Lifeonmars on 22 Feb.

Good luck

I've been at it for hours now. Keeping the French theme going; I would say I'm au fait with tech and hardware etc but this has totally stumped me. I've followed every instruction by the letter and it just won't connect. Everything is correct.

Yep! Me too - must have done it 10 times over the course of 2 weekends following every single step to the finest detail. But never got past this stumbling block

Re: BT Home Hub 6 (Smart Hub) on PlusNet

Are you following the instructions linked from here?  https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-A-BT-Smarthub-An-Update/m-p/1795292#M24601
The biggest error most people make is to try to input their Plusnet credentials with the DSL cable plugged in. This MUST be left disconnected until these are input then plugged in whilst it is trying to connect.

Re: BT Home Hub 6 (Smart Hub) on PlusNet

For what its worth I picked up a HH6 from a charity shop yesterday (went in for a book came out with a bonus) and followed Baldrick1 advice in detail. Almost got there first time but no save account/password option on mine and i must have missed something so went round the loop again.  Worth rushing slowly. Some things just take time but total 30 minutes later had HH connected to Plusnet 63/14 and by changing the SSID and wireless code to be same as Plusnet all the devices (phone, tablet PC etc) connected fine - upstairs computer fastest ever.

Thanks Baldrick1 for a detailed, succinct, and effective document.
