If you recontract you will probably get the chance of having a Hub 2 for the postage charge (and possibly a discount on your current payment) but it depends on whether you are eligible to recontract.
The general consensus is that the Hub 2 WiFi is better but a more reliable way of improving WiFi is to get a mesh system and plug it in to your Hub 1 (and turn off the Hub 1 WiFi).
I don't have a personal recommendation but the BT Whole Home Wi-Fi seems to get generally good reviews on Amazon so if I were in the market I might consider that.
