Date/Time on update for DryaTek Vigor 166

Hi - I hope that you can assist with the following: The date / time & year shown on on my Vigor 166 modem is incorrect - DrayTek advise that the 166 should obtain this information from my Netgear RAX30 router. I've check the NTP information for the RAX30 and it's correct. My question is how do I get the Vigor 166 to read the data from the RAX30?

Re: Date/Time on update for DryaTek Vigor 166

If the Draytek Vigor 166 is just being a modem then I'm surprised you can see the date and time on it.

Having said that, in modem mode the date and time shouldn't matter as far as I can tell.

The data and time being right on the Netgear would matter more.

I am the satisfied customer....

@Somerset

I assume you have tried the settings as shown in the handbook, and clicked on the "Inquire Time" button ? -

While I still aspire to owning and am actively looking on eBay for a reasonably priced Vigor 166,  I'm currently using a Vigor 130 which doesn't have any time of day display - so can't experiment !.

However I have previously used Billion 8800 routers (both R1 and R2 versions) configured as bridged VDSL2 modems,  and with those I had the configured NTP server named as my pfSense router's URL (rather than an external internet NTP service),  and the Billion bridged modems did correctly get the current time from my router over the ethernet cable used for the PPPoE connection.  So it IS possible !

Try setting the 166's "Time Server" to your router's URL or it's WAN port address.

Also look at that setting for "Send NTP Request Through", and select the port (P1 or P2) that goes to your router, and then change it to the port that goes to your LAN, and see if that makes any difference ?

@Somerset  Another thought -

In your router firewall you will probably have to 'ALLOW' NTP requests to be accepted on the WAN port, otherwise it will just ignore your Vigor 166 asking for the time.
