Devices not connecting to wifi network

Hi

I am not a technical person and currently struggling to understand why my devices have stopped speaking to my network.

Brief explanation:  Have solar panel app, storage battery app and wifi switch app on immersion heater, wifi plug on lighting app. All have worked perfectly for yonks.  Today, not connecting and giving me messages about being offline

Today I have message on landline (cordless) saying to "check the line cord".  If there is a problem on my landline, how is this impacting on my network and ability of apps to connect.  I still have my internet connection working fine, TV still happy. Ahh, just struck me these things are physically connected - Doh!

Can anyone explain in really basic terms either what the issue may be or how I resolve it? How do I make all my little apps happy again?   I would be so appreciative.

Re: Devices not connecting to wifi network

Morning @CallMeMeryl sorry I am late to the party, i've been off a few days. I can see a fault was raised, has it been fixed yet?

Re: Devices not connecting to wifi network

Hi, thank you so much for responding.

Well I thought it was fixed as I regained all the functionality of my various apps.  However, Outreach attended this morning and said there is an issue outside of the house somewhere affecting the line.  The engineers were last see heading off up the nearest telegraph pole!  They also said my router is (I quote) "ancient" and they are going to recommend a new one.

My question was about why the fault on the phone line prevented my wifi network from working but didn't seem to interfere with my internet connectivity.  My limited logical thinking was that my laptop connects via wifi, so if that was working why wasn't everything else.  I am now doubly confused as there is still an unresolved fault on the line but my much valued apps are all working again.

Like I said to the engineer, my skillset lies in a different domain, so try not to judge too harshly on my blind spot of science and technology Smiley

Re: Devices not connecting to wifi network

You're very welcome! Thanks for your time posting in here for us to try to help you.

The engineers will say get a new router out anyway because then it covers all areas for you but if you are all up and running again I wouldn't worry too much about it. Obviously if it goes down again we could try the router. Are the apps dancing around like they are at a party now then?
