I want to extend the WIFI network in my house. I have laid an ethernet cable that connects my Plusnet Two router to the other end of the house.
Are there any router settings I need to change in order for my devices to automatically change to the new access point seamlessly as I walk through the house?
Is there anything else I should be aware of to achieve this functionality before I buy the 2nd access point?
Thanks for your help

For a true seamless handover between access points you really need access points that are designed with that in mind - I use Unifi APs and they handover to other stations without missing a beat.
If you are using routers or APs that aren't coordinated for handovers then you just need the same SSID and password and your devices should swap over to another access point when the signal from the one they are connected to becomes too weak. It will depend on the device as to how seamless that is, as the routers won't be involved in making the decision to swap over. Some devices are very sticky and are reluctant to swap even there is a better signal available.

Also consider why you need to extend coverage and whether "seamless" handover is necessary.
I just have an access point with a different SSID at the back of the house; it also gives good coverage in the garden. A different name isn't really an issue as devices such as smartphones switch as needed and many devices are static anyway (e.g. TV, PC, printer)

As @corringham says, you need roaming compatible WAPs for seamless handover, and ideally disable the router's WiFi to avoid the 'sticky' behaviour he describes.
I use DrayTek WAPs, and they have specific configuration to assist with seamless roaming -

Rather than mess with extending the Hub 2 wireless I would buy a couple of mesh units. Locate one next to the hub and the other on the end of the Ethernet extension cable, using it as a backhaul.
If you then need better wireless in other parts of the house you can simply buy a third mesh unit and connect it wirelessly.

That is what I did - I use BT Whole Home WiFi discs. I did it this way because I use WiFi Calling on my mobile phone and wanted a seamless handover between discs. I have the Hub's WiFi turned off and just use the BT mesh system.
