Feedback on Hub2 router πŸ‘Ž

Wasted nearly 45m today 'upgrading' my Hub1 to a Hub2, only to learn it's lost the ability to separate the 2.4 and 5g channels. Really disappointed, and I've gone back to my Hub1. Hope to see this functionality come back in the future. I understand there are workarounds with extenders, or even running both the hub1 and hub2 together, but that seems overkill.

Otherwise really happy with the service. πŸ‘

Exactly the same experience.   Judging by the huge amount of views on this thread :-

https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Hub-2-splitting-wifi-bands/td-p/1864577

it looks like it's something many people want

Also my internet ran like a dog with the Hub 2 so I've gone back to the Hub 1.  Can I have my Β£6.99 back Plusnet ?

Re: Feedback on Hub2 router πŸ‘Ž

The lack of splitting the bands on the Hub 2 is annoying but there doesn't seem any likelihood of it changing given it's so related to the BT Smart Hub 2.

As a positive the Hub 2 did give a better sync speed than the HH6 and has the advantage of being the current supported Plusnet model - in theory at least as the update to fully turn off the radios has being "coming soon" all year.

There are alternatives which may be better than going back to the Hub 1 or HH6 -  one is to replace the Hub 2 with a AC1200 VDSL modem/router like the TP-Link VR400 V3 (has been Β£50 or so but expensive right now).

Or - and what I'm managing with - is to just turn off the WiFi on the Hub 2 and connect an AX1800 Access Point (around Β£40) -  plus in the future that could be used as a router to completely replace the Hub 2 with full fibre.

Re: Feedback on Hub2 router πŸ‘Ž

thanks for the reply, however if the splitting bands thing was the only issue I may be motivated to work around it but the Hub 2 cut my speed badly as well.  Upload went to below 1 Mbps !

About the only thing that endeared me to the Hub 2 over the Hub 1 was that you could dim the status light much more !

Re: Feedback on Hub2 router πŸ‘Ž

Persevere with a new device rather than go backwards. Although the speed issue might have emerged when switching over to  the Hub 2 unless it's faulty it wont be to blame itself - the BT Home Hub 2 is very widely used.

If time allows do some proper investigation starting with the line stats shown by the router, checking cabling and using the test socket, and raising a fault if need be - and demonstrating the issue while you're actually using a supplied Hub 2 will help get it fixed.
