Hub 2 Router Settings for DVR

Hi Everyone

Since upgrading my Plusnet Hub 1 router to Plusnet Hub 2 for better WiFi coverage, it is refusing to recognise my CCTV DVR (which is hardwired with an ethernet cable), meaning I cannot view cameras from my mobile or laptop.

I have replaced the router with a second Hub2 and bought a new Annke DVR to replace the Hikvision after Plusnet/ Openreach told me it may be an outdated software issue all to no avail.
It has been suggested it may be a port forwarding issue!

Can anyone recommend a solution please?

Thanks in anticipation!
Steve

Re: Hub 2 Router Settings for DVR

Hi Steve,

I've never used one of these DVRs before, but I have a suggestion. Do you still have the Hub 1? If so try plugging it back in and check the DVR still works on that then go to the router's setup page at http://192.168.1.254 and go to (I think) Advanced Settings > Firewall > Port Forwarding (password is on the back of the router) and check what's in there for the DVR. Swap back to the Hub 2 and you should be go a similar page and enter the same values.

@Steve2024

You do need need any port forward rule to view the camera's on you local network, port forward rules are for external inbound connections only.

Be warned the Hub two only has THREE LAN ports, WAN is only used for a modem (Full Fibre ONT) connection. The WAN port is next to the power connector.

I would suggest checking the DVR network connection is set to DHCP, look at the Hub Two >Home >My Devices page do you see the DVR connected to one of the LAN ports?

Sorry suffering from word blindness, when checking my post I have miss read what I have typed. It should read.

Re: Hub 2 Router Settings for DVR

If you can access the dvr with your old router use that to log in and in the Anke settings ensure DHCP is ticked. Then connect it to your new router. Alternatively connect the dvr directly to a pc and change the setting from there.
