Hub 2 and usb strage over wifi / wlan to my android tv. Possible?

Help!
Desperately trying to get usb hard drive to appear on my android tv via my hub 2s usb port. Is this even possible? If so how and are there any limitations? Thanks in advance

The Plusnet Hub 2 is basically the same as the BT SmartHub2.

Historically, BT Hubs have had a USB port that can be used to share files on a flash drive using a protocol called Samba. The original BT Hub, many years ago, used Samba v1. The current version of Samba is v4.xx

Unfortunately, AFAIK, when BT have released a new hub, the version of Samba has not been updated. Therefore IIRC, even the BT SmartHub2 uses Samba v1.

Samba v1 is no longer recommended due to security concerns and is not available on most modern devices. If you use a Windows PC, you will have to specifically enable Samba v1 to even get it to work on that.

In short, it is unlikely that you will be able to get this to work.

What you could do though, is plug the USB drive in to your computer, (assuming that you have one!), and enable Samba sharing from the PC.

Finally, and most simply - have you tried plugging the USB drive straight in to your TV and accessing it via a File Explorer type Android app?

Thanks bud. I've tried using my storage with the tv and it's fine. Problem I've got it I also wanted to boost the storage of the device itself AND use the storage as well (have my cake and eat it!!). But I've got 2 usb ports on tv and only one can handle data, other port is for power only. I was hoping to use my hub for removable storage and the only port on tv to expand the storage. If that makes sense. I'll have to have a think and try again 👍🏻
