Hub 2 release IP

Hi, Does anyone know how to release a LAN IP on Hub 2? The option to select/deselect 'always has this address' doesn't seem to do anything.
Having problems keeping my printer connected on 5Ghz where 2.4Ghz works OK. Just wondered if 2.4Ghz is tied to the 'always has' IP and so if I only selected my hub to broadcast 5Ghz whether this might be the problem?

The printer should automatically pick the best band to use.If you log into the hub Advanced Settings/Wireless page you can switch off the 2.4 GHz transmission.

The always use this IP address feature is like using a static IP address except that the address allocation is set by the router, not the connected device. Nothing to do with which wireless band that’s used.

Re: Hub 2 release IP

@southerner

The DHCP server on the Hub  issues a IP Address against a devices MAC Address (Media Access Control) which is static, this will be why the printer keeps having the same IP Address allocated, as already been mentioned nothing to do with the wireless channel.

It is very unlikely you'll see any improved performance from the printer when connected to 5 GHz as the printer is limited to it's mechanics rather than the speed it receives the data. Look at the printers PPM (Pages Per Minute) spec. Colour prints are slower than Black Ink.

Re: Hub 2 release IP

Strange one. Printer is happy if I leave 2.4Ghz on but it sometimes connects to 5Ghz anyway. If I turn off 2.4Ghz printer doesn't want to know even if it's connected to 5Ghz at the time. Printer connects at a speed of '5' to either frequencies.(I think that's max?)

I had turned 2.4Ghz off as none of my other devices use it but I guess the printer wants it there for some reason.

A quirk of the Deskjet 2700 or HP printers or the Hub 2 and printers I guess?

Most likely the printer, my HP Envy 5000 behaves in much the same way, today it is 2.4GHz. It was the same with a Hub One and a TP-Link DSL router.
