Hi Bob
I seem to have a variation to this problem, my ethernet and 5GHz are fine it is my 2.4GHz channel that is affected.
It occurs randomly with no apparent trigger, until recently it was always when somebody tried to access the internet but today it happened during a session (watching catch up TV on 5GHz - not affected, both wife and I on internet Samsung phone and Acer Chromebook, both lost internet at same time).
Problem affects everything and anything conected to 2.4GHz channel at that time, all appear to have WiFi connectivity but all indicate that no internet available. Hub shows no faults (blue light). Problem is persistent, only way to regain connectivity is by carrying out a Router Reset.
2.4GHz and 5GHz channels split (5GHz channel renamed), only affects 2.4GHz.
Can't reproduce, always resolved by reboot and normally at least a day between occurance.
As affects everything at same time don't believe it can be anything to do with patches or updates to devices
No powerlines, wireless repeaters other routers etc.
table below shows the current connections. The unknown on 2.4GHz is an Acer Chromebook and the Unknown Ethernet connections are a TP Link 8 port Ethernet Switch, an HP Desktop PC, a Seagate NAS Drive and EE FemtoCell

The new one is 3 weeks old and started this last night.
Bands are split with different SSID and passwords.
I've switched off 5ghz which was only used by a Samsung TV and S9 phone on the replacement router. Previously everything was on 5ghz apart from an old laptop.
Guessing there isn't any point in requesting another router.
The back of both routers however does seem to get very warm below the Pop out with the details on closest to the WPS button if that's of help?
Hopefully this is fixable as a little disappointed all my devices are fighting for 2.4ghz

Thanks to those who got in touch about the firmware downgrade.

I've just recently started having this issue having experienced no problems at all in the past.
The only change on my network recently is I added a new 4k Amazon Fire TV stick, everything else is as it has been since install many months ago.
I have a 4K Fire stick so will bring it into the office tomorrow and set it up in our test environment on the off-chance it allows us to replicate the problem.
Enable/Disable 5Ghz wireless in router settings seems to solve it, without me needing to reboot router.
Thanks, interesting to know! I've added this detail to the opening post.
@unclefegg wrote:
I can get this almost 100% using an Apple iPad Air2 set to 5GHz. It will DC every time I put the iPad to sleep. If I disable and enable 5GHz on the router, it will work until I next sleep the iPad.
We've an iPad Air in the test environment (not sure of version) but I was unable to replicate the issue when I tried. Will give it another bash when I install the Fire stick.
@chrisisaac, yours isn't the first report of problems affecting the 2.4GHz radio. I stumbled across another here recently. I'll make sure the detail is relayed to those working on the problem. I may be in touch at some point should we need to grab some further diagnostics from your device.

No, there isn't

Both the washing machine and the iPad will need to be connected to the same wireless network name/band in order to communicate with each other.

It's getting worse. I have decided to replace the Plusnet Hub 1 with a D-Link DIR 2660 EXC AC2600. Is there anything in particular I should pay attention to when setting up the router for Plusnet Fibre?

I've set up a new Samsung phone today AND 99.9 % working so far. It required many updates and app management, which hasn't been a problem, over 5.0 ghz wifi

@bobpullen a quick update for you, on Wed just before I posted on here I changed the DHCP lease time from 1 day to 21 days and so far it hasn't dropped out. Will keep a note if/whenit does drop out.

@Meridan From a quick Google it looks like the D-Link DIR 2660 EXC AC2600 is a router with no built in modem so will not work with Plusnet without an external modem. The HUB1 does not support a modem only mode so you will need another device. I use the Openreach modem Huawei HG612-3B which works well and with unlocked firmware can give a lot of stats. They are no longer supplied but are available on a well known auction site.🙂

Wouldn't this work???
Use alternative Wi-Fi access points
If you have been considering purchasing a 'mesh' Wi-Fi solution e.g. BT Whole Home Wi-Fi, Netgear Orbi or Google Wi-Fi, then these solutions typically involve disabling the Wi-Fi in your Hub completely. They would therefore not be subject to the problem.
It is also possible to disable the Wi-Fi on the Hub One and connect another router via ethernet cable to use it as the Wi-Fi access point. Instructions for doing this are outside of the scope of this post, however you will need to disable DHCP and configure a static local IP on the secondary router/access point.

It does work. I have connected the D-Link WiFi router the the Plus Hub 1, disabled WiFi on the latter and have now strong wifi coverage throughout the house.

@bobpullen further update, it dropped out today and I managed to "reset" it by turning the 2.5GHz off and on again. Here is a copy of my log files if that helps at all.
