Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

I just used support@plus.net and headed it as 'Complaint'. I told them that it was a known problem since March 2019 and that I had purchased a new BT router and I wanted to be reimbursed. I guess that the fact that is was a BT router it made it a little more palatable. It is still cheaper for them to refund on demand than replace 1,000s of faulty hubs. Good luck

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

@jab1

Does that mean I should be able to use 5GHz wifi without any problems?

It does, AFAIK. But if you are still having problems, I would create your own topic with the details.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Given I'm now experiencing regular cutouts and I've no idea what else to do to fix it, I wonder if plusnet would just credit our bills with the amount given to @Iandfisher for their new router? Easier and faster than sending in a receipt and to me an acceptable fix - I'd just go out and buy a new router if I knew PN would pay for it this way.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Hello,

My software version is 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 and reading other threads on here it appears the latest update is 4.7.5.1.83.8.289.1.1.

Can someone please tell me how I can update please as the new router hasn't improved things for me at all with dropouts etc, etc.

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks, I've just sent an email off so I guess we'll see what they say!

For anyone else reading - I picked up a BT Smart Hub 2 from eBay for ~£20 and installed it last night; it's clearly a better piece of hardware (you can tell literally just by looking at it!) and seems to have completely resolved my Wi-Fi woes. I'd recommend not bothering with PN's firmware update (since it doesn't work) - just cut out the middle man and get yourself a new router.

Plusnet, if you're reading this - stop providing substandard hardware. You might be saving a few quid, but you're damaging your business and reputation.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

So my broadband is dropping out again most days and I'm sick of it. ITs ok having cheap broadband but if it never works properly there's no point having it. Anyone know of a decent broadband supplier?

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Aware that I've not been around much recently - Really sorry.

I'll try and spent some time over the coming days reading back through what I've missed and applying any updates that are overdue.

Appreciate everybody's patience.

Re: Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue

Woah. So we have another firmware.

Instead of 289.1.1 it is now 289.1.3.

Plusnet, come on, just some communication on this. Even if it is we have found a minor adjustment that we hope will resolve the issue so we are pushing 289.1.3.

Instead, I suspect, many like me will have noticed some one posting a different firmware version.

This is now 3 or 4 attempts to resolve the issue with new firmware

If it is not another attempt to resolve the 5ghz issue but something else please could you let us know. A simple Web page with all the firmware versions with a change log.

If a typo by the poster then my apologies plusnet.
