Hub2 Disable Captive Portal

Hi, I've recently hit issues when my plusnet internet connection goes offline.

I have a  fail over setup to switch over to my other router which uses a SIM card, this was all working perfectly last year.

This weekend my internet lost connection, the engineer is booked in to fix it next week.

I can no longer use my setup without switching the Plusnet Hub2 off as all my traffic is being forced to the Plusnet captive portal.

It's strange because I have a Pi-hole dns setup in my home network so not sure how it's forcing me to the captive portal.

Is there any way to get around this without having to manually turn the router off? I have machines plugged into that router which I can't access once the router is turned off. Happy to take suggestions both hardware and software config.

Regards, Tony.

What do you actually change on the switch over ?

Is the Pi the DHCP server ?

My guess is that machines still have the Hub 2 as the default gateway.

Re: Hub2 Disable Captive Portal

1) I have a  fail over setup to switch over to my other router

      - What do you actually change on the switch over ?

I have 3 subnets

Plusnet - 192.168.1.0/24 (Eth 1)

ubiquiti Router - 192.168.2.0/24

Sim Router - 192.168.3.0/24 (Eth 2)

My machine is connected to the Ubiquiti router, it's static IP.

When the Eth1 subnet loses connection the Ubiquiti is set to failover to Eth2

My DNS servers are plugged into the plusnet router static IP (maybe this is causing it? will have to swap and report back)

2) Is the Pi the DHCP server ? My guess is that machines still have the Hub 2 as the default gateway.

Not the DHCP, but maybe because my DNS is connected to plusnet like you say, this is what is causing it.

Thanks I'll go fault find further.

Re: Hub2 Disable Captive Portal

I assume @TonyTwoTeas is referring to the 'intercept' to the troubleshooting page that the Hub will do if the internet connection is down.

Re: Hub2 Disable Captive Portal

My memory is probably failing me in which case as I didn't think we had it enabled. I know it gets disabled on TR069 establishment for Hub One.

@bobpullen TBH I'm just assuming that's what it is.

Yes it's the troubleshooting page. The router is on the most recent version.

Re: Hub2 Disable Captive Portal

Your machine has somehow still got the Hub. address as it's default gateway.
