Hub2

My newish hub2 will not connect to my lights tv and other smart items. On my old hub I had all these and my alexa on 2.5 how do I chose which I use on hub2 2.5 or 5.

@sol_sun_ftm on our old Hub it sounds like you had split the 2.4 & 5 ghz networks and assigned different names to each. I'm afraid that's not possible on the Hub 2 , it uses 'band steering' to assign the best network to each device. Some devices dont like this and fail to connect.

Sometimes this can be circumvented by temporarily disabling the 5ghz wireless on the Hub2 , connecting the devices and then re-enabling the 5 ghz. It's also possible to disable some wifi performance options and improve compatibility with older devices by changing the wifi 'mode'. By default its set to Mode 1, try changing to Mode 2 or 3 and see if that helps

@sol_sun_ftm The easiest way, that seems to work for most people, is to temporarily turn the 5Ghz band off, connect the 2.5Ghz devices, then re-enable the 5Ghz.

Yes I had the two split. Something I can't do on this one, a backwards step?

As I said, temporarily disable the 5Ghz, connect the kit that is a problem, then re-enable the 5Ghz. Also note what @MisterW said in post #2

Thats fine as long as the router doesn't restart itself. Otherwise you then have to go through this pallaver every time it does.

The easiest (but not the most cost effective) solution is to get a 2.4GHz wifi extender, call it a different SSID that you program your devices up with. Will cost you about £25 but it's worth the effort. Or just get a better router.
