I have been with Plusnet for a few years and use a Plusnet hub one. I also use my old BT extender to get a signal in my garden room 5 mtres away.
I purchased a radiator for my garden room that I can adjust by wifi. Trouble is I cannot get the radiator to connect. I have no idea what Ghz my router is, but I presume it is 5 gHz as I can only get my extender to work on 5gHz. On 2.4 the extender just flashes and will not connect.
The new radiator will only work on 2.4 gHz.
Being a bit of a dummy where all these wifi and gHz are concerned, is there a way to alter the router to run at 2.4 gHz, so I can connect the extender on 2.4 and then my radiator.
The only things connected to my router are a laptop, ipad, mobile phone and TV and my extender. The maximum distance from the router will be 5 mtrs to my extender if that makes a difference.

If you have the latest PlusNet router (PlusNet Hub Two), then according to the manual, the router covers both the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz ranges. Log into your router and check that both are enabled. Also according to the manual "if you are struggling to get connected" you can give them a call on 0800 432 0200. Not sure whether you would get help connecting another device, but they might at least provide some help to determine that both frequency bands are working.

Hi. I have a Hub One. I have no idea what gHz it is on. How do I get into the router settings anyway?

@ronecc - there is a way to overcome this. I thought it was a 'sticky' I could direct you to, but unfortunately it isn't. I'll tag the expert on routers and see if he can help.

Hub One, being older, should definitely support 2.4GHz. Not sure about 5GHz.

@Batphone The H1 is also dual band, but to get 2.4Ghz kit to work with it, you need to split the bands. As said above there is a way to do this, but unfortunately I can't remember it, which is why I tagged Baldrick1 - he is the 'go-to' guy on this.

Thanks for your help with this problem. I have decided to just run the heater via a timer and forget all the wifi stuff. I have had the heater next to the router and the list of things to check is endless. I will go back to old fashioned tech and switch off and on when required.
