New router doesn't connect

Hi all,

I've just yesterday received a new router  after agreeing a new two year contract.

However, when I set it up the router both today and yesterday, it won't connect to any websites regardless if I use Firefox or Edge browsers.

Perhaps the router won't work until the new contract starts on the 21st July?

Regards

Niall

Re: New router doesn't connect

@khazars670 Which Hub have you received? There could be a number of reasons for the failure to connect, but the first thing I would check is that your 'username' and password are correct on the new kit.

hub 1, and said no need to enter username or password as already connected.

The router 2704N works just fine!

What lights are on the Hub? and I would still check that the details are correct.

blue. It only asks to change admin password, doesn't display username or login password!

Re: New router doesn't connect

So, it is connected to the internet. I'm not very familiar with this Hub, having never used it, but if you check the 'Home' page, I think it will show your connection details.

Re: New router doesn't connect

@khazars670

Both hubs should work.

I'm sorry if it's obvious and you think that it's a silly question, but are you connecting to your devices over Ethernet or wireless? If wireless, are you aware that the wireless SSID will be different?

If this is the problem there are two solutions:

1. Go into each device available wireless network settings, select the new SSID and enter the new wireless password. This information is on a pull out tab on the back of the hub.

Or

2. Go into the Hub 1 Advanced Wireless settings and change the SSID and password to the same as the 2704N

Re: New router doesn't connect

So, what does the Hubs Help desk page say you are connected as?

Ok, got it, had to change from setup@plusdsl.net

to username and password.
