PlusNet hub 2 hidden channels

Hi all

Just a bit of paranoia here, my hub 2 is broadcasting 2 hidden ssd's ( I'm assuming its the hub )

Is this normal?

Any help or advice would be gratefully received

Re: PlusNet hub 2 hidden channels

@ScottyKernow

The Plusnet Hub Two is a rebadged BT Smart Hub 2 with modified firmware. The hidden channels are for features offered by the BT device which are not offered by Plusnet.

They should not impact the operation of your wireless network, I myself have not noticed any degradation.

Wireless can be turned off completely using the option in Advanced Wireless setting or when the Hub is in bridge mode (modem only)

Re: PlusNet hub 2 hidden channels

Years ago BT used to allow other bt customers access to the Internet over your connection

Very few customers knew about this, certainly bt wasn't transparent about it

This sounds like the remnants of the sharing system

@ScottyKernow they still do and it's not restricted to BT customers.

Re: PlusNet hub 2 hidden channels

Haha
BT are selling access to the customers wifi (which the customer pays for)
Wonder how much of this they pass back the customer???
Silly question, nothing of course

Re: PlusNet hub 2 hidden channels

About the same as they charge BT customers to use this service?
