Plusnet Residential Smart Hub 2 in bridge mode.

Hello people, i need some advice please after moving home and upgrading from ADSL+ to VDSL [40/10 is the maximum i can receive], but i think my Huawei BT modem is at last showing signs of wear & tear so am wanting to utilise my Asus RT-AC86U [merlin] router alongside my Plusnet smart hub2 which is showing a bridging mode option [see attachment].
My question is do i need to alter the I.P addresses on either unit to achieve a connection, the hub2 is default 192.168.1.254 and the router is 192.168.1.1, [my 70 year old brain has problems with subnets and DHCP ranges 😪 ]
My proposal:
. set the hub2 into bridging mode & hopefully get the pink light
. connect router`s wan port to the hub`s lan port
. connect pc to router via ethernet cable [ any I.P address change needed here? ]
. configure router`s PPPoe with my plusnet username/password,

Hi Temujin, all of that sounds sensible.

You don't need to worry too much about IP addresses. Should be a simple cabling/PPP config job.

No need to change any IP addresses.

The router needs the username in the form <username>@plusdsl.net  plus the Account password.

The router VLAN should be OFF (this is handled by the Hub 2)

So basically as you propose. You can use any LAN 1-3 port, but not the 4th labelled WAN.

Thanks for your input guys, that went better than i expected, hub2 in "pink" mode and Asus router blocking all my Samsung TV ads.

Just 1 question if i may, whilst my desktop was connected to the router via ethernet cable all websites were slow to load and some had images missing or part missing, but as soon as i disconnected the cable and wi-fi kicked in everything is now loading as it should, normally ethernet is better than wi-fi? or not.[ cable is cat7 & 2 months old]

Yes, Ethernet should be the fastest, providing the cable is connected directly to the router and not a Mesh satellite.
