Really annoying, even with the blue light on I'm having to restart the thing to get it to start the WiFi again.
Some mornings it is OK but is getting more frequent now. The last software version update was in 11/10/ 2021, 4.7.5.1.83.8.289.1.3. I use the 2.4 & the 5 signals
Is it time to get a Hub 2, is it any better?
Advice please
Bert

Hi Bert,
PN Hun One or something older?
With the very old Hub Zeros I saw repeated 'gone to sleep' scenarios with WiFi connected devices, whilst anything connected over ethernet kept on trucking.
Of the PN routers, most certainly the Hub Two is superior for WiFi ... with the exception that you cannot differentiate the SSID for the 2.4 and 5GHz bands.
If this is a Hub One (I do not recall) is there a power saver on WiFi? If there is, try disabling power save.

Yes, the Hub One was bad for loosing it's wifi! Had that here a few times.
No problems here since upgrading to a HUB 2 (there's just different 'challenges'!)

Thanks Townman
No power save found in the Hub one.
I'll continue a bit longer with it before getting a new one. It really annoyed us when we were watching something on the fire stick when bang on 10pm off it went, after rebooting and waiting 10 minutes or so before we could resume the film.
A few years ago there were a lot of people complaining about the hub one & its wifi performance, eventually someone at plusnet picked up the problem & issued software updates overnight with instructions to make changes to the channels used. My last update was in Nov. 21, so its getting on a bit

Does it ALWAYS go off at the same time? Is there any possibility of the WiFi having timed switch off configured?
What channel is in use? Can you consider obtaining and installing inSIDDer to inspect your WiFi spectrum.
If your router is set to AUTO Channel and someone else winds up a WiFi device which makes the current channel sub-optimal, on AUTO the router will try to do a channel swap ... which some devices might have difficulty following.

Many folk refer to the internet as being their WiFi so the question is, when you say the WiFi drops are you referring to the WiFi signal from the Hub or you've lost the internet connection as there is a difference in determining where the fault is.
Can you still see a WiFi signal on your smart devices from your Hub or has it done away when it stops working?

Hi Townman,
the 2.4 & 5 are on separate SSID's 2.4 on channel 11 & 5 on channel 48 & not on AUTO. I have the timer page set to NO.
it does not happen all the time. The fire stick is on the 5mhz, when that goes off I've looked into the stick settings menu & the 5 & the 2.4 have disappeared, it sees other signals from the neighbours & the router will show the orange light. The phones & tablet lose the wifi icon as well. A press of the router restart button usually sorts things out.
I looked at the event log, from Aug 30 to 9th Nov there was no entry but 9th Nov a couple of pages appeared as I rebooted the thing.
Rarely, I come down in the morning & I'm greeted by the red light, power off & on & after a bit the blue light comes on and all is OK.
I tend to blame the octopus smart meter.
I appreciate all your advice
Bert

The wifi signal disappears from the phones, The LAN to the computer is OK unless the router light goes red. The next time it happens I will have to double check this.
Sometime in the recent past the broadband light came on, meaning a problem with the line. It did resolve itself. I know Openreach have been installing new stuff around here up the telegraph poles & in their cabinets.
thanks
Bert

Bert, for utter clarity, which red light? Which router. We need to be sure what we are looking at here - WiFi connectivity being lost while cable connected devices continue to function unimpeded or EVERYTHING losing Internet connectivity as might be suggested by the red light indicating a loss of sync.
Loss of WiFi whilst Ethernet connectivity continued is most certainly something I have experienced with the Hub Zero. I do not have enough experience with Hub Ones to judge either way.

With the Hub One light being found at Red might suggest the Hub has rebooted and failed it's POST.
If it were me I'd organise a replacement Hub as this one looks to be a bit iffy!
